Picture This!

Every photo tells a story.

What's your story?

I turned and looked at our tracks. We had gone so far, but I knew it wasn't anywhere close to how far we still had to go. The crusted snow crunched under my boots. I could feel the cold seeping in through my soles to my feet. It was cold and it would only get colder. We needed to find shelter and soon. But as I looked out over the barren, snow covered landscape, I knew shelter was out of reach and freezing to death was more likely.

Share your brief story in the comments below. I'd love to hear what you come up with!

The tracks still looked fresh. It wouldn't be long before I caught up with them, but then what? Self doubt reared its ugly head and voiced its opinion, "Your a writer from Colorado not a bounty hunter, Rebecca. What are you doing?" I shook my head, willing the doubt and fear out of my mind and forced myself to walk faster. I would find them first and then decide what to do. All I knew is that they weren't going to get away with this, I wouldn't let them.

What a fun idea! If I weren't so into my WIP right now, I'd use the mental energy to write something fun, but I'm just going to admire your work. Really fun, Rebecca!

Loved your story, Rebecca. :-) That picture reminds of the movie, The Empire Strikes Back. (I'm a nerd that way...) It was my favorite movie growing up, because I was always so enchanted by snow. (We didn't get a lot of it in Oklahoma.) The world gets so peaceful and isolated after a big snowfall. Everything seems so pure. The idea of an entire planet that remained in perpetual winter (and covered in snow!) blew my young mind. :-D

This reminds me of the time I went to a cabin in a snow mobile, except it was dark, we got lost, and I lost feeling in my feet for a while, but we found the place, built a fire and got all warmed up before frostbite set in. :)

Wow, I loved your story, very powerful and frightening. It's funny because I totally hate snow but I love photos of it and I think it is a great source of inspiration for stories. I just never want to have to actually deal with it LOL.

Hope you've had a great weekend!

Fantastic story! Even if it is a tad desolate and sad. The picture reminds me of how my yard looked like with the recent snow.
